In summer, find shade if possible. Austin's 100+ degree heat makes standing in a parking lot miserable, and we don't want you overheated before we arrive. If you have kids or pets in the vehicle with the engine running, tell the dispatcher immediately - these calls get absolute priority and we'll have someone there in minutes, not the typical 20.

Have your ID ready. We verify vehicle ownership before opening any car - usually checking that your license plate matches your registration, or that the VIN matches your insurance card. This protects you from anyone else trying to access your vehicle.
